BYD has increased the prices of its electric vehicles in Nepal, with the Atto 1, Atto 2 and Atto 3 receiving signifcant revisions. The latest update comes as rising forex conversion rates continue to impact the overall cost of imported vehicles in the country.
BYD Atto 1
The BYD Atto 1 price in Nepal has been revised across both variants. The Dynamic variant is now priced at Rs. 29,75,000, up from Rs. 28,95,000, marking an increase of Rs. 80,000.
Similarly, the Premium variant now costs Rs. 33,75,000, compared to its earlier price of Rs. 32,99,000, reflecting a Rs. 76,000 hike. Despite the increase, the Atto 1 continues to remain the most affordable electric car in BYD’s lineup, targeting urban buyers looking for an electric hatchback.
BYD Atto 2
The BYD Atto 2 price in Nepal has also been increased. The model is now available at Rs. 45,99,000, up from Rs. 44,99,000, representing a Rs.1,00,000 increase.
Positioned in the mid-range EV segment, the Atto 2 has been a strong contender in Nepal’s growing electric vehicle market, and the latest price adjustment may slightly affect its value proposition in an increasingly competitive space.
BYD Atto 3
The most significant revision comes with the BYD Atto 3 price in Nepal, particularly for the Advanced variant, which is now priced at Rs. 59,99,000, up from Rs. 56,90,000, marking a substantial increase of Rs. 3,09,000.
In contrast, the Atto 3 Superior variant remains unchanged at Rs. 67,80,000, which could make it a more attractive option for buyers comparing variants within the same model lineup.
Other BYD EV Prices in Nepal Remain Unchanged
While the Atto range has seen price revisions, several other BYD models continue to be sold at existing prices. The BYD Dolphin remains priced at Rs. 41,45,000, while the BYD M6 continues at Rs. 58,90,000. Similarly, premium offerings such as the BYD Seal and the BYD Sealion 7 have not seen any price changes in this latest revision.
Reason Behind BYD Price Hike in Nepal
As per the company, the primary reason for the price increase is the rise in forex conversion rates, which has significantly impacted import costs and overall vehicle pricing in Nepal. As the country relies heavily on imports for electric vehicles, fluctuations in foreign exchange rates directly influence retail pricing.
Impact on the market
While the hikes may influence buying decisions—especially in entry-level and mid-range segments—BYD’s strong brand positioning, feature-rich offerings, and growing presence in Nepal are expected to help sustain demand.
With forex volatility continuing to affect the automotive sector, similar price adjustments across the industry could follow in the coming months.
